Incomplete Series: Part 1

A week ago today, I posted part 1 of completed series and then on Monday, I posted part 2. This week, I thought I’d do the same thing but with my incomplete series instead. This list consists of series where I haven’t read the rest of the books and the main reason is because the rest of them aren’t out yet. This list is in no particular order. Without further ado, let’s get on to the list.

Top Ten Books I Recently Added to My TBR

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and Bookish.

My TBR is evergrowing and I hardly ever keep track of it except for occassionally adding them to my goodreads. So for this list, I decided to just share with you the latest 10 books that have been added to my goodreads to-read shelf. Obviously, this changes quite often so it may not be entirely up to date between the time of me writing this and when it actually goes up. Anyway, I should stop rambling and making no sense and just get straight on it.

October Wrap Up

It’s the end of October and I’m kind of just sitting here wondering where the month went! I feel like this month went incredibly fast and the end of the year is fast approaching. Anyway, I read 8 books this month and I’m quite proud of that despite the fact that I’ve read much more before because my mocks are fast approaching and revision has basically taking over my life. Let’s get on with the actual books I read.

The first four books I read this month were the 2nd,3rd,4th and 5th books in the Covenant series by Jennifer L.Armentrout; Pure, Deity, Apollyon and Sentinel. I really enjoyed all of these and this series is just a whole load of fun. I wrote a whole series review of it so click here if you want to read that. I gave each book 4 out of 5 stars because while I enjoyed them, they weren’t some of the best books I’ve ever read.

The next book I read this month was The Blood Of Olympus by Rick Riordan, the final book in the Heroes of Olympus series. I really loved this book because Rick Riordan can do no wrong. He wrote another fabulous book that was amusing yet still heart breaking at times. However, one complaint I did have about the book was that even though it was a great book, it wasn’t the best conclusion to the series. I felt that it was too easy at the end and we also didn’t really get to see happy endings for our favourite characters. The only character whose ending I was satisfied with and that I felt had a nice ending was Nico. I still ended up giving this book 5 out of 5 stars because I did really love it.

The next book I read was My True Love Gave to Me by various authors but all edited by Stephanie Perkins. This was one of my most anticipated books of the year and it did not disappoint. I loved most of the stories and I didn’t want them to end. I wrote a whole post about it so if you are interested, click here to read it but I of course gave this book 5 out of 5 stars.

The next book I read was Famous in Love by Rebecca Serle which was another book that I was looking forward to reading and it was great. I loved the story and it was the perfect romance book however the ending did slightly annoy me because it was quite open. However, Rebecca Serle did tweet me saying that there was going to be a sequel so I’m very excited for it. I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars and I did a whole review on it so click here if you are interested.

The final book I read this month was Half Bad by Sally Green. After my friend kept recommending this book to me, I finally picked it up and to be honest I’m not sure how I felt. It was interesting and the story line was great however I didn’t feel anything towards the characters at all. Also at the start it kept changing from first person to second person narrative and that really bugged me. I ended up giving this book 3 out of 5 stars because I’m unsure about how I felt towards it.

Favourite book of the month: My True Love Gave to Me edited by Stephanie Perkins.

Books at each star level:

1 star: 0 books

2 stars: 0 books

3 stars: 1 book

4 stars: 5 books

5 stars: 2 books

Overall, this was a good reading month I think because I enjoyed most of them. Hopefully I’ll read some great books in November too. I’ll see you soon with another post.

Famous In Love by Rebecca Serle

Today I’m going to review a book that I have been looking forward to for a while so when I received a copy via Netgalley I was very happy. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and this book is released in the UK on the 23rd October. If you’ve never heard of this book, here’s the summary for you:

The romantic story of a girl who gets plucked from obscurity to star in the next major feature film franchise based on a book and the ensuing love triangles she gets entangled in on—-and off screen.

Meet Paige Townsen, Rainer Devon, and Jordan Wilder…

When Paige Townsen, a young unknown, gets cast in the movie adaptation of a blockbuster book series, her life changes practically overnight. Within a month, Paige has traded the quiet streets of her hometown for a crowded movie set on the shores of Maui, and is spending quality time with her co-star Rainer Devon, one of People’s Sexiest Men Alive. But when troubled star Jordan Wilder lands the role of the other point in the movie’s famous love triangle, Paige’s crazy new life gets even crazier.

In this coming-of-age romance inspired by the kind of celeb hookups that get clever nicknames and a million page views, Paige must figure out who she is – and who she wants – while the whole world watches.

I was immediately drawn to this book because a) I’m a sucker for romance stories and b) it is about a girl who is cast in a major book to movie adaptation. I did actually end up enjoying it as well. Once I got into it, I couldn’t put it down and I kept reading until I finished. Every time I tried to put the book down and go back to sleep, I kept thinking about what was going to happen next so I had to pick it up again. It was fast paced and despite there being no action, I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happened.

Paige was an interesting main character. Her views about major book to movie adaptations really made me think about how some big actresses may feel about appearing in them e.g. Jennifer Lawrence. She was constantly worried about messing it up or not doing it right for the fans. And when she went out to go sign books, her shock over the screaming fans really made me think about how hard it must be for these stars to deal with screaming fangirls. I am definitely not a screaming fangirl but it made me think about the way people view actresses. Paige found it hard to deal with the major change in her life that acting bought about, despite it being something that she has wanted for her whole life. Basically throughout the whole book ,she was dealing with some sort of issue but I didn’t mind it. I didn’t actually dislike her which is good.

Now here is where it gets complicated. The boys. Rainer was introduced quite early on in the book and we were made to like him and while he was cute and adorable, I was quite skeptical of his actions. He was too good to be true in my opinion and then when Jordan entered, I immediately loved him for some reason. I did end up liking both the boys because Rainer was sweet where as Jordan was brooding. Though I have to say I personally prefer Jordan myself but I do like them both for Paige. Saying that, the one thing I disliked about this book was the ending. I felt that it was rushed and a lot of the big things that we were waiting to happen happened within less than 50 pages. I also didn’t like who she ended up with and the actual ending. I mean, what about the other two movies? Did the fans like the movie? Surely her feelings would change? Also how did the book in the book end? Who did August choose? And another main question came from the beginning. Does she know that she chose the wrong person? I’M SO CONFUSED.

Never the less I really enjoyed the book as a whole so I’d probably give it about an 85% so 4 out of 5 stars. It is enjoyable and I do recommend you pick it up when it is released. That’s all from me today. Thanks for reading and see you soon.
