So today I’m doing a tag. A tag that I was actually tagged to do by my friend Jamie over at Bookworm Bird which is the seven deadly sins book tag which was created by 4evercrazy4ya. It seemed like an easy and fun tag so I thought I’d do it.
As the Oscars were on Sunday, I thought it would be great to redo the Bookish Academy Awards tag that was created by Kayla over at Bookadoodles on Youtube. I did this tag last year and I only included books that I read in 2013 so today I thought I’d do it based on books I read in 2014. I may even make this a yearly thing that I do around this time. This tag just takes the Oscar awards and adapts them to make them book related. For each award, I will give a winner and at least one honourable mention.
Earlier today I saw a post on The Writing Hufflepuff and it was the gif book tag and it looked like so much fun so I’m doing that now. The aim of the tag is that the person who tagged you(or in my case the person whose blog post you saw) has given you a list of 10 books that you have to match up to a gif. Let’s go!
Hello! It’s been a while, I know. Don’t hate me because I know that I have been neglecting this blog and I apologize! After the 12th December, I will hopefully be back to posting regularly but as of now I have mocks next week and I have busy revising. But today I thought I’d take a well-earned break and finally write a new post! Yes, I did choose to do a tag that has 50 questions but I’m going to hopefully make the answers as quick and snappy as possible so that I don’t bore you. This tag is based off of the Booktuber TMI tag which was created by JiixBooks. That tag was based off of the original TMI tag which was created by Carrie Hope Fletcher. I changed a few questions so it wasn’t youtube based so lets get going.
1)Whose clothes style from a book character do you like?
I think I might say Lola from Lola and The Boy Next Door because while I wouldn’t wear the clothes she wears, I love her sense of style and how she’s not afraid to wear whatever she wants.
2)Your book boyfriend/ fictional crush?
I have soooooo many book boyfriends. My ultimate one will always be Finnick Odair from The Hunger Games but my other top 3 are Jem Carstairs from The Infernal Devices, Levi Stewart from Fangirl and Cricket Bell from Lola and The Boy Next Door. I have made two top 10 fictional crushes lists in the past but they have changed since then and they are no longer true.
3)Ever loved a character but than started hating him/her?
There are a few that I have liked but don’t like anymore but the one that came to mind was Lissa Dragomir from Vampire Academy. I loved her in Vampire Academy however when it came to the bloodlines series especially Silver Shadows, she just lost all the respect I had for her. If you’ve read Silver Shadows, you’ll understand what I’m talking about. How dare she?
4)Biggest/Longest book on your shelf?
This is probably City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare or Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling.
5)Heaviest book on your shelf?
Definitely City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare. That book is basically a brick.
6)Do you have any book posters?
My room is covered in posters. Some book related, some book to movie related and some TV show related. All the book and book to movie ones I own are:
The Fault In Our Stars 2013 tour poster, The Hunger Games movie poster, City of Bones Simon movie poster, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movie poster, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince movie poster, The Fault In Our Stars movie poster, We Were Liars book poster, The Fault In Our Stars book poster, Half Bad book poster, The Hobbit movie poster, City of Bones movie poster, City of Heavenly Fire book poster, Harry Potter book poster and various smaller book related photos etc.
7)Do you have any book themed jewellery?
Yes actually I do! I own a Mockingjay pin, Arwen’s necklace from LOTR, an Angelic rune necklace from TMI and a Deathly Hallows bracelet. I made myself a necklace that said Jem on it but it broke.
I have many but the ultimate one has to be Finnick and Annie from The Hunger Games
9)Favorite book series?
I have to say The Infernal Devices because I just love and adore that series.
10)Favorite Book-to-movie soundtrack?
I love the soundtrack for If I Stay and also the Catching Fire score is amazing.
11)A book story you miss/ wish would continue?
Umm, all of them? Is that a viable answer? Meh that’s my answer anyway.
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. If you don’t know why I love this book, I shall direct you to my detailed review.
13)Since when do you read books?
This question is worded weirdly. I was reading when I was young but I think I started really getting into reading when I was 10 but then I stopped reading and started again when I was 12 and I’ve been obsessed since then.
14)Which Hogwarts house are you in?
Slytherin, no matter what anybody else says.
15)Quality you look for in a book?
There isn’t a specific quality I need in a book. I love a range of books that are very different from each other.
16)Favorite book quote?
“One must always be careful of books and what is inside them for words have the power to change us.”
Tessa Gray, The Infernal Devices.
Definitely Rainbow Rowell(go check out my post about being a Rainbow Rowell fangirl). But I also love Tahereh Mafi, Sarah J. Maas, Stephanie Perkins, Cassandra Clare, Rick Riordan etc.
18)Favorite book cover?
I have to say Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi because that cover is just so stunning.
19)Action or Romance?
This really depends on my mood. At the moment, I’m in the mood for some romance but tomorrow, I may want to read some action.
20)Where do you go when a sad moment happens?
To my bed or to someone who has already read the book and I started complaining at them.
21)How long do you need to finish a book?
This really depends on various factors. How long it is, how busy I am, whether I’m enjoying it, what’s actually happening in the book etc.
22)How long is your mourning period?
This differs for every book but generally I don’t usually have one.
23)Least favorite book?
We’ll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han.
24)Turn on in a character?
Sweet and kind.
25)Turn off in a character?
26)Reason I started my book blog?
I wanted to share my opinions about books and I wanted somewhere I could say whatever the hell I wanted without getting a lot of hate.
27)Name a scary book?
The Mara Dyer trilogy is the scariest book series that I’ve ever read but that’s because I don’t read horror.
28)Last book that made you cry?
I never cry in books….
29)Last book that you gave 5 stars?
The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin.
30)Any favorite book titles?
My True Love Gave to Me, A Little Something Different, Crown of Midnight, Isla and the Happily Ever Afrer, In a Handful of Dust, The Fiery Heart, A Grimm Warning and so many more.
31)Last book you read?
Sweet Peril by Wendy Higgins.
32)Book you’re currently reading?
Sweet Reckoning by Wendy Higgins.
33)Last book adaptation you watched?
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – part 1. FABULOUS MOVIE!
34)A book character you always wanted to talk to?
Adrian Ivashkov because I feel like he would be amazing to talk to.
35)An author you always wanted to talk to?
Since I have briefly talked to Rainbow Rowell, I’m going to say Tahereh Mafi because I adore her.
36)Favorite book snack?
I never eat while reading. I sometimes drink hot chocolate while reading.
37)Book world you want to live in?
The wizarding world.. duh.
38)Least world you want to live in?
Any dystopian world. Especially Panem. Never Panem.
39)Last time you smelled a book?
I can’t even remember.
40)Weird insults used in books?
Pansycake is a bit odd, I think.
41)Favorite romance book?
I’m going to say that Rainbow Rowell’s books don’t class as romance books so I pick all three of Stephanie Perkins novels. Especially Isla. And Lola. And Anna.
42)Do you write?
Occassionally, but I have absolutely no idea what to write.
43)Favorite magical item?
Umm, a wand? I have always wanted a wand.
44)Your quidditch position?
I don’t know at all. Maybe Keeper or Beater.
45)Name a song you connect to a book
I connect so many songs to books but not because they relate to them but because I was listening to them repeatedly when reading the book. For example, I related any song on Night Visions by Imagine Dragons to The Maze Runner because I was listening to them constantly while reading that trilogy.
46)Favorite book related chat up line?
” Hey I love that book you’re reading.”
47)Have you ever used it?
Ha ha ha ha ha ha, no.
48)Favorite book fandom?
So many fandoms are great. I have to say the Harry Potter fandom because they are always the best.
49)How many books do you own?
Around 146 but that doesn’t include all the books that I have given out that haven’t been returned to me.
50)Who do you tag?
So that was the very long winded bookblogger TMI tag and I hope you enjoyed it. Hope to see you soon with another post.
So earlier this week, I was just watching some booktube videos as you do during the day and then I cam across this particular new and original book tag and I just knew I had to do it because it combines two things that I love very much; High School Musical and books. This tag was created by April Brooks over on booktube so click on her name to go see the original video. Let’s get started:
Start of Something New – A new favourite genre/author/series
For this one I’m going to go with the series that I’m currently reading which is the Covenant series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I read Cursed by Jennifer L. Armentrout during the summer and I wasn’t the biggest fan but I am currently on the 4th book in this series and I’m absolutely loving it. It’s not the best series but it’s addictive and I don’t want it to end. The first book in this series is Half Blood and I strongly recommend you pick it up, especially if you’re into paranormal romance. I didn’t like the first one as much because it seemed like an exact copy of Vampire Academy but as the series went on, it just got better and better.
What I’ve Been Looking For – A book that has everything you’ve ever wanted
Definitely Alienated by Melissa Landers. I absolutely adore this book so much and it had everything in it. Action, adventure, romance, science-fiction, politics, gangs, bullying etc. It just fits in to every single category and it was perfect. If you haven’t read this book yet, what are you doing with your life? Go read it now. Or if you still need convincing click here to go read my review of it. I cannot recommend this book enough.
Fabulous – A book with the biggest diva
I couldn’t think of a main character in a book who is a big diva so I’m going to go with a side character and that is Celeste from The Selection trilogy. If you’ve read this trilogy, you’ll understand why. She wants everything her way and she’s just annoying. Like urgh woman stop thinking about yourself all the time.
Stick to the Status Quo – A stereotype defying character
I’m going to go with Nico DiAngelo(mainly because I just finished The Blood of Olympus and I’m in a really Nico DiAngelo mood) from the Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus series. If you’ve read House of Hades, you’ll know why. Nico has such a soft spot in my heart and I love him so much. He doesn’t deserve all the hate he gets especially considering all the crap that he has been through.
The Boys Are Back – The best bromance
This one is so easy and the answer most definitely is Jem and Will from The Infernal Devices. I mean come on, they are so close. They’re closer than brothers and their relationship stands above anything else in that series. They don’t let people get in the way of their close friendship and they just stick together until the end!
What Time Is It – Your favourite summer read
I don’t really read any specific books during the summer however there are 3 books I think I may be reading almost every summer and those are the three Stephanie Perkins novels. I love them so much and I read them constantly to cheer myself up.
Everyday – If you had to look at one book cover every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
You’re making me choose just one?! That’s unfair. I guess if I had to pick just one it would definitely be Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi. That cover is so beautiful and stunning. The colours just go so perfectly together. I love the whole series and how they all match with the eyes but Ignite Me is my personal favourite.
Just Wanna Be With You – A Book You Couldn’t Put Down
There have been so many books that I just wanted to keep reading but the most recent one was Rites of Passage by Joy N Hensley. I read it in probably less than 24 hours because I just wanted to know what was going to happen next! If you haven’t read it go read it. Click here if you want to know more about my thoughts on it.
Scream – A character that frustrated you
So many characters have annoyed me in books before because it takes a lot for me to really love a character. But the one that has annoyed me the most is definitely Belly from The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy. I don’t even want to talk about her because just thinking about her annoys me.
High School Musical – Your favourite fictional school
Does this even need to be a question? HOGWARTS. My answer will always and forever be Hogwarts.
Humuhumunukuapua’a – The most ridiculous book/scene/character you have ever read
I’m going to go with a book that I only recently read and that was Hung Up by Kristen Tracy. The whole premise of the book was interesting but the actual characters were idiots. Like seriously did no one teach them about stranger danger? There were numerous points in that book where I wanted to bang my head against the wall because of how stupid they were.
Spring Musical Medley – The happiest ending
This may seem weird but I think that The Infernal Devices had quite a happy ending for a series. It ended happily and it kept everyone satisfied, especially with that epilogue. I applaud you Cassandra Clare for creating a perfect ending to such a perfect series.
So that’s it for the High School Musical book tag but I’m just sitting here thinking about all the neglected songs! We’re All In This Together? Gotta Go My Own Way? When There Was Me and You? Can I Have This Dance? All for One? Breaking Free? You Are The Music In Me? Work This Out? I Don’t Dance? Bop To The Top? BET ON IT? All such great songs that have been neglected! I’m so sorry songs. If I had any imagination at all I would add you all on but I just can’t think of categories so I’m sorry! I LOVE YOU ALL!
Last week a tag was created over on BookTube by TheBitterProductions and Benjaminoftomes called the Best Friend Book Tag and after watching it, I immediately asked my best friend Priya to do the tag with me. The tag was originally designed for YouTube but we’ve somehow made it work in blog format. How the tag works is that there is a list of topics and you have to guess what the other person’s answer would be and whoever gets the most right wins. How me and Priya have done it is that on this post, you will see her guesses and what my answers really are and if you go over to her post you’ll see my guesses and what her answers are. If you follow me but you don’t follow Priya, I strongly recommend you do because her blog is awesome.
Favourite Paranormal Romance
Priya’s guess was Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare yet this wasn’t my choice because in my opinion it doesn’t count as a paranormal romance. I class The Infernal Devices as an urban fantasy series. Therefore my choice was not from that series but it was in fact Silver Shadows by Richelle Mead, the 5th book in the bloodlines series. This is a recent read but I absolutely adore this series and this has got to be my favourite one out of the whole series. It just makes me happy when I’m reading it and it’s just so fabulous and badass. I can’t even form words about why I love this series. If you want to know more about my thoughts, click here to see my review.
Priya’s original guess was Crown of Midnight by Sarah J Maas. We then disagreed about whether this counted as a dystopian book. I made her choose another one and she struggled. She spent about 10 minutes debating about what it was and complaining about how hard this is. Finally she decided to just say The Hunger Games(and she was sure she was 99% wrong) and she was in fact correct! I’m a fan of many dystopians but The Hunger Games will always remain my favourite(really Catching Fire is my favourite but I just went with the general series instead of a particular book). I don’t know why but something about The Hunger Games is just amazing and it will always hold a special place in my heart.
Anyone who knows me at all would know that Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, which is a contemporary novel, is my favourite book of all time so of course Priya guessed correctly. I love Fangirl so much and I could talk for ages about why so instead just go check out my review if you’re interested.
Favourite Lead Female
I thought Priya would find this really easy but she did slightly struggle. She did finally settle on Celaena Sardothien from Throne of Glass and she was in fact correct. Celaena is definitely my favourite female lead because she is so kick ass yet funny. I love Throne of Glass so much, mainly because Celaena is such a fun character to read about.
Favourite Lead Male
This one caused some debate and confusion over who actually counted in this category. We just decided to say that any male character who the book does focus on at points counts. Priya took a guess that my favourite would be Jem Carstairs from The Infernal Devices and of course she was correct. I love Jem a lot(as is evident in my list of my top fictional crushes) and I could honestly talk about him all day because he is just that fabulous but I shall not bore you with that. If you haven’t read this series, go read it now.
This category was again one that I thought was quite easy . Priya’s guess was The Infernal Devices and she was correct obviously. The Infernal Devices is competing with the Throne of Glass series to be my favourite series of all time but it is most definitely my favourite trilogy. It has everything I could ever want in a series and I love it oh so very much.
This one was again fairly easy. Mine is of course Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell and of course Priya got it right. If she didn’t, I would have been very worried about whether or not she knew me. As I mentioned earlier, I adore Fangirl and if you want to know more about why go check out my review which I linked above.
This one was again quite easy. Anyone who knows me will know that Rainbow Rowell is my favourite author so of course Priya got it right. I love Rainbow Rowell a lot and if you want to know more about why check out my post about being a Rainbow Rowell fangirl and my post about meeting Rainbow Rowell.
Favourite Book Made Into A Movie
We took this to mean our favourite book to movie adaptation. When I originally saw this I immediately said that mine was A Walk to Remember but then Priya reminded me that while I love the movie and the book, the movie wasn’t very true to the book so I had to choose another one. Priya’s guess was Catching Fire and while that was a close second, it isn’t my top book to movie adaptation. My favourite book to movie adaptation is definitely The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I love the book and the movie very dearly. The movie was done incredibly well and it makes me emotional every time.
Favourite Love Scene In A Book
Priya’s guess was the scene in Lola and the Boy Next Door with the moon and the stars. However, while I absolutely adored that scene, I have to say my favourite love scene in a book is the scene in Fangirl where Cath reads the Outsiders out loud to Levi. Yes another answer that is Fangirl related. This scene was so amazing and romantic. I just want my own Levi already.
Book You Disliked
Priya’s guess was Little Women because she remembers when I was forced to read that in year 9 for school and I absolutely despised it. However that is not my most hated book. That would have to go to It’s Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han, the final book in the Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy. While I hated this whole series, this one just took the biscuit. Thinking about it makes me very angry because it was just so annoying. Urgh.
We took this to mean the villain that we actually love but we probably shouldn’t. Priya’s guess was Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter however he was not my answer. In fact, I didn’t even think of him. My favourite villain is in fact Warner Anderson from the Shatter Me series. I love Warner so very much, even in the first book. I really shouldn’t have liked him but I just couldn’t help falling in love with him.
Favourite Love Triangle
While I thought mine was pretty obvious, Priya did slightly struggle with it. She finally took a guess and guessed the love triangle from The Infernal Devices between Jem, Will and Tessa and she was correct. This love triangle was just written so perfectly and amazingly. I didn’t get annoyed with it at all during the books and I didn’t hate any of them. That dear authors, is how you write a love triangle.
Priya in the end got 8 out of 13 which is very good. If you want to know how I did, go over to Priya’s blog and read her post. Now it’s time to tag people. Since me and Priya know similar people, we’ve decided to tag 6 people altogether. I’m going to be tagging 3 of them and Priya will be tagging the other three. The three people I’m going to tag are:
So you guys need to go grab your best friend and see how much they know about your favourite books! Thank you for reading and make sure you’ve checked out Priya’s blog!
I was tagged to do the Liebster Award by Erin. Thanks so much for nominating me because I’ve never been tagged to do it before. Here are the rules:
*You must answer 11 questions given to you by the person who nominated you.
*You must list 11 random/fun facts about yourself.
*You must pick 11 nominees with under 200 (ish) followers to answer your questions.
*You cannot nominate the person who nominated you.
*You must let the person you’ve nominated know that they’ve been nominated.
Let’s get started by answering the questions that I was given by Erin:
1. Who is your favourite Disney Princess?
Hmm.. I’m not sure. My favourite disney heroine is Mulan but she’s not a princess. It’s probably either Belle or Rapunzel. Most likely Belle actually.
2. What one possession could you not live without?
Joffrey my kindle. Joff is my life and if I didn’t have it, I would be really upset because then I couldn’t read all the books.
3. What is your dream job?
My unrealistic dream job is to be an author but I’d love to be an advertising manager for a publishing company such as Harper Collins or Simon and Schuester.
4. What is your favourite book?
Definitely Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. I love it so much and I talk about it constantly.

8. Why do you blog?
I blog so that I can share all my opinions about everything I read. I started this blog thinking that no one would read it and I’m shocked to find that people actually do.
9. What is your most used app?
This is probably whatsapp because I am constantly messaging my friends and family on it.
10. What is the most important thing you have learned from your parents?

10. Favourite musical artist?
11. If you could travel through time and go to any time period, where would you go?
Yes that isn’t 11 people but I don’t know who else to tag! Hope you guys have fun and comment below when you’ve done it so I can check it out! Thanks for reading,
Hey! Today I thought I’d do another tag that I found on YouTube which is the bookish academy awards tag. This tag was created by Kayla over at Bookadoodles and you should all go check out her videos because she’s amazing. The concept of this tag is simple. It takes the academy awards and alters the categories to suit books. You are meant to do it only based on a year of reading so I thought I’d do it based on the books I read in 2013. Let’s get started!
Best Actor: (Best Male Protagonist)
This would have to go to Percy Jackson. I read House of Hades so I can rightfully hand this award over to him because he is just so funny and witty. He is also strong and fights amazingly for those he loves. This shows a lot in House of Hades when we see him go through all kinds of hell with Annabeth. He protects her amazingly.
Honourable Mention: Perry from Under the Never Sky
Best Actress:(Best Female Protagonist)
This would most definitely go to Celaena Sardothien from Throne of Glass. Celaena is strong and an incredibly kick ass character. I love reading from her perspective and I can’t wait to read more of her perspective in Heir of Fire.
Honourable Mention: Rose Hathaway from Vampire Academy
Best Cinematography:(Best Plot Twist)
This one would have to go to The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin. Honestly both of these books could have won this but the first one just won it for me because that ending was just mind blowing and unpredictable! I cannot wait for The Retribution of Mara Dyer because I know that it will mess with my mind almost as much, if not more, than the other two did.
Honourable Mention: Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead
Best Costume Design:(Best Book Cover)
I have to give this award to Crown of Midnight( I would have given this to The Assassin’s Blade but I’m only doing 2013 books). I love the covers of the whole series but Crown of Midnight just won slightly because I prefer this cover just slightly because of the colours. I prefer the UK covers of these books just because of the contrast between the colours on the front and the ones on the back so that is why it wins.
Honourable Mention: Mara Dyer covers by Michelle Hodkin
Best Supporting Actress and Actor: (Best Male and Female Sidekick)
For best male sidekick I give the award to Simon Lewis from the Mortal Instruments because I absolutely adore Simon. He is one of my favourite fictional characters of all time(check out my top fictional crushes list) because I think he is just funny and nerdy yet still so helpful and badass. He really improves a lot as the series goes on. For female sidekick that will have to go to Isabelle Lightwood from the same series because she also incredibly badass and just all round fabulous.
Honourable Mentions: Kenji from Shatter Me, Nehemia from Throne of Glass
Best Original Screenplay: (Most Unique Plot/World)
For most unique world that will have to go to Delirium by Lauren Oliver. Delirium has such a unique world that I think is so fascinating. I actually wrote a whole post on it so click here to read it.
Honourable Mention: Throne of Glass by Sarah J.Maas
Best Adapted Screenplay: (Best Book-to-Movie Adaptation)
This one has to go to the obvious one that everyone is probably saying which is Catching Fire. This movie was absolutely stunning and such a perfect adaptation. I didn’t realise you could get an adaptation so right until I saw this one. Honestly, this movie was amazing and just breath taking.
Honourable Mention: The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
Best Animated Feature:(A book that would work well in animated format)
I give this award to the Legend trilogy as a whole but because this is 2013 books it goes to Champion and Prodigy by Marie Lu as I read both of them last year. This series would just be amazing as an anime, I believe. I don’t watch anime but if this was one, I’d watch it!
Honourable Mention: House of Hades by Rick Riordan.
Best Director:(A writer you discovered for the first time)
This award goes to my favourite author of all time: Rainbow Rowell. I read her first three books for the first time last year and I fell in love. Honestly all her books are amazing and I just can’t recommend them enough. If you’re interested check out my review of Fangirl, my friend Ambi’s review of Eleanor and Park and my review of Landline. Seriously, go pick up one of her books now. Stop everything you’re doing and read one of her books because they will change your life completely.
Honourable Mentions: Tahereh Mafi, Michelle Hodkin, Sarah J.Maas
Best Visual Effects:(Best Action in a Book)
This has to go to the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. Celaena is an assassin so of course, there is a lot of fighting and a lot of action. I loved reading about the action in this book because it was incredibly detailed and I felt like I was actually seeing it on a TV.
Honourable Mention: Prodigy by Marie Lu
Best Musical Score:(Best Music in a book-to-movie adaptation)
I listen to a lot of film scores but the winner for a 2013 book-t0-movie adaptation has to go to Catching Fire. The score in this movie was so hauntingly beautiful and it fit in well. It didn’t distract from the movie but you did notice it was playing because it made the scenes more real.
Honourable Mention: The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
Best Short Film:(Best Novella or Short Book)
I have to give this to Destroy Me by Tahereh Mafi. Anyone who knows me well, will know I love Warner a lot so of course this novella was perfection in my eyes. I loved seeing inside of his head and seeing a different perspective to the story. I definitely recommend you read this before reading Unravel Me because you will love the books a lot more if you do.
Honourable Mention: The Prince by Kiera Cass
Best Picture: (Best Stand-Alone)
This has to go to my favourite book of all time, Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. It’s no surprise that I absolutely adore this book for many reasons that I won’t go into now. If you want to know more about why I love it so much, click here to go read my review.
Honourable mention: Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell
Best Documentary: (Best Historical Fiction or Non-Fiction)
I don’t read many historical fiction or even non-fiction books so this award will have to go to the one historical fiction I have read, The White Queen by Phillipa Gregory. I read this in anticipation for the BBC TV series and even though it took me over two weeks, I loved this book.
Honourable Mention: Life and Laughing by Michael McIntyre
Hey! I was actually tagged to do the Disney Princess Book Tag by my amazing friend, Priya(check out her blog because she’s awesome) and I’m excited. I love Disney but I’m ashamed to admit that I haven’t seen a lot of Disney movies but I am still a fan. This tag was originally created by a booktuber named TurtleSympathy. I shall try to choose different answers to Priya but sometimes I couldn’t think of any other answers.
1) Anna and Elsa – A book with siblings in it.
For this category I immediately thought of My Life Next Door but then my mind wandered to my favourite book of this year, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. This book is a romance story as the name suggests but it also focuses very strongly on Lara Jean and her family. Lara Jean, Margot and Kitty are very close and they all look after their dad and they have an amazing family dynamic as a whole. If you haven’t read this book, I strongly suggest you do because I really do love this book.
2) Rapunzel – A book that made you emotional.
Now I am not one to cry in books but the book that bought me closest to tears was Clockwork Princess. If you have read this book you will know exactly why. That certain part in the middle with that certain character that I love very much makes me very very upset. Every time I read it I have to put the book down and stop myself from crying. Not that I would cry anyway because the tears will never actually come.
3) Merida – A book featuring a female warrior.
For this one I had to pick Throne of Glass. Celaena is my favourite protagonist and maybe even my favourite fictional character. She is an assassin so of course she kicks ass. It’s hard to find a kick ass female lead in YA books but Celaena is one. She doesn’t need a guy to protect, guys need her to protect them.
4) Tiana – A book that has realist struggles.
For this I had to pick Eleanor and Park. This book will break your heart into little pieces because life gets in the way of such a perfect love story. This book has a lot of realist struggles and that’s why I adore about Rainbow Rowell. She doesn’t write perfect characters, she writes real characters. This book tackles the problems that a lot of people do face but I don’t want to tell you what they are because it might be spoilery.
5) Belle – A literary book or a classic.
I don’t read many classics. In fact the only one I’ve read is Little Women which we had to read last year in English but I didn’t particularly like. I decided to choose one of the books I’m currently reading which is The Great Gatsby. I’m reading this book very slowly but I am enjoying it.
6) Pocahontas – A nature book or a book by a naturalist.
This is probably the category I struggled with the most but I ended up choosing Shades of Earth. This is the last book in the Across the Universe trilogy so I can’t tell you what it’s about but I do remember nature taking a big role in it. Plus, the cover also reflects nature anyway so bonus points.
7) Jasmine – A book about the desire to be free.
I had to pick the Shatter Me series because all Juliette wants is to be free. She wants to be free of the government and of her power. I had to pick this because out of all of my book series this one stuck out as being about freedom. I needed to choose her just because of how much she wants to be free and how much she changes throughout the series. Also it’s an excuse to mention Warner…..
8) Mulan – A book featuring wars or battles.
I had to choose Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows because of the Hogwarts battle. Isn’t this one obvious? Do I really have to explain this? This was definitely one of my favourite battles in books because it was bloody amazing.
9) Ariel – A book featuring curiosity or learning.
Here is where I have to pick the same as Priya. I had to pick Harry Potter because Hermione is very curious and the series focuses a lot on learning new things. Harry learns a lot about the Wizarding World and about himself throughout all the books and I loved the fact that we were learning a long with him.
10) Cinderella – A book featuring manual labour.
I couldn’t think of a book that focuses on manual labour so let’s skip this one. But surely I got extra points for the Shades of Earth cover so that makes up for this.
11) Aurora – A book featuring sleep.
I also had to pick The Evolution of Mara Dyer here because if you have read that book you will know exactly why. I can’t tell you why because it’s spoilery so let’s move on.
12) Snow White – A book featuring one of the seven deadly sins.
For this one I was unsure but I ended up picking Vampire Academy . Lust is represented through Rose and Dimitri’s compulsion scene and envy is represented via Mia’s hatred for Lissa. Bonus points for getting two of them! I seriously love this series and I strongly recommend it.
13) Megara – A book featuring Greek Mythology.
The obvious choice for this would be Percy Jackson but as Priya chose that I decided to choose the book I’m currently reading which is Cruel Beauty. This book is a Beauty and the Beast retelling but in a world where they believe in the Greek Gods. There is a lot of Greek Mythology involved which I loved because I am a big fan of the Greek Gods. I love learning about them and I find it incredibly fascinating.
14) Alice – A book featuring nonsense or unusual words.
For this I wasn’t sure because I don’t read many books with unusual words but then I remembered The Maze Runner .This book is confusing to get into at first because it includes words such as shuck and you are a bit confused as to what they are saying. But once I got into it, I did really enjoy it. I know that many people don’t like it and that’s their opinion but I honestly did really enjoy the first one.
15) Maid Marian – A book with a canine.
For this I had to go with Priya again and choose Legend. I spent ages trying to find a book with a dog in that wasn’t Harry Potter but I could only think of Legend. In Legend, June has a dog named Ollie that she is close with as he is like family to her.
16) Nala – A book with a feline.
Okay it took me a while to think of one but eventually I remembered The House of Hades. I remember small Bob and I’m pretty sure small Bob was a cat. I think he was anyway. I remember loving small Bob and the fact that there was a cat in it.
Thank you for reading this very long tag post and I’m sorry for how long it is. See you next time with my next post whenever it will be.
