2020 was not a good year for films for me. I sort of fell out of love with Bollywood so I haven’t been watching many. I watched in total 28 films this year so sadly, wasn’t a greay year. However, I still have a top ten here for you because I loved some of the films I did watch.
10.Toy Story 4
Toy Story is one of my favourite franchises so I was always going to love this one. I really loved Forky and how the story went. It was sad and bittersweet for Toy Story fans but I understand why some may have been disappointed.
9.The Nightmare Before Christmas
I can’t believe I waited until 2019 to watch this film. I watched it on halloween as a perfect way to bridge between Halloween and Christmas and I had so much fun. It wasn’t anything like I thought it would be but I adore it. It will definitely be an annual tradition.
8.Captain Marvel
I am a huge MCU fan and I loved this film. I’ve been waiting for a female superhero MCU film for a while and this is exactly the film I wanted. Also, I love cats and Goose in this film is truly the best.
7.Coco
I also can’t believe I waited this long to watch Coco. Watching this film has made me go on a mission to watch every single animated Disney film when Disney+ releases in the UK in March. I watched this film in bed when I was incredibly sick and it made me tear up. It was truly wonderful and it’s so underrated.
6.Spider-Man: Far From Home
I adore Spider-Man. Spider-Man has been my favourite superhero since I was young and I’m obsessed with all Spider-Man films. This film was no exception. I adore Tom Holland as Spider-Man and this film was an incredible follow up to Endgame. It felt like a teen movie more than a superhero movie, which is what I liked about it.
5.Avengers: Endgame
I have been waiting for this film for so long and it was great. I liked the way that it went and I adored so many scenes of it. The only reason it isn’t higher in the list is because of the many issues that come with time travel as a plotline. There were many loopholes but I loved so many of the scenes that it was okay.
4.The Sky is Pink
This is the first of only three Bollywood films in my top 10. I was intrigued by Priyanka Chopra’s return to Bollywood and it was a wonderful return. This is such a quiet, calm film that makes you cry constantly. It escaped most of Bollywood’s typical melodramatic ways of portraying sad topics and made the whole thing very subtle. I adore it (it’s also on Netflix so watch it now).
3.Into The Spider-Verse
As I said earlier, I love Spider-Man so I became obsessed with this film. It’s so clever and unique that I can’t quite believe it exists. It’s so underrated in general and everyone needs to watch it.
2.Gully Boy
I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this film because I’m not a huge rap fan but I became obsessed with it. Ranveer Singh killed it and the subtleties of the plot made it such a great watch.
1.Andhadhun
This film could honestly be one of my favourite films of all time, if not my favourite. I’ve never been as shocked in a film or as invested in a film ever. I couldn’t stop watching and I’ve already re-watched it like 4 times. I AM OBSESSED. This film is also on Netflix so do yourself a favour and watch it.
Those are my top 10 favourite films of 2019. Did you watch any great films this year? Let me know down below.
Oh no, i haven’t seen any of these! Definitely going to have to watch more films in 2020.
