September TBR

Even though I’m in a reading slump so I’m not reading as much as I used to, I still like to set myself a monthly TBR just because I find that it’s a very useful thing to follow to ensure that I actually read. I’m trying to keep this habit up so let’s see if it happens.

I’m trying to keep up with my habit of reading any physical ARCs that I have at least a month before release date so these are the October ARCs that I currently have to read.

  • Slay by Brittany Morris
  • Dear Sweet Pea by Julie Murphy
  • The Beautiful by Renee Ahdieh

The number one priority out of these is Dear Sweet Pea as it is the one that I especially requested. Slay was sent to me unsolicited so I’m not as stressed about that. I would love to read The Beautiful which I picked up a copy of at YALC.

New Releases:

Permanent Record by Mary H K Choi

I loved Emergency Contact by this author so I am very excited to see what her second novel is like.

Pumpkinheads by Rainbow Rowell and Faith Erin Hicks

This released in the US in August but we aren’t getting it until September in the UK. You already know I’m going to devour this graphic novel in one sitting when I finally get my hands on it.

Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell

The physical copy of this book doesn’t come out in the UK until October but the e-book is releasing the same day as the American release date so obviously I need to read it ASAP. I love Rainbow Rowell and I’ve been eagerly anticipating this novel for what feels like centuries. (I’m still re-reading Carry On but shh).

TBR Jar:

Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett

The TBR Jar has made a return for the second month in a row. I’m actually reading my August pick in August so it was successful. Why not carry it on? This month’s three picks were The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald, Orphan Monster Spy by Matt Killeen and Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett. The Great Gatsby was immediately removed from the pile. I don’t even know why I still own it because I don’t like reading classics. Whilst Orphan Monster Spy sounds like a great book, I’m in a huge contemporary mood right now so Starry Eyes was the obvious pick.

These are books that I will also try to get to but I’m not going to get upset if I don’t.

Night Owls by Jenn Bennett

When I picked Starry Eyes out of my TBR Jar, I thought why not just read both of the Jenn Bennett’s books on my TBR in one month. I’ve read her other two releases so it would be great to finish all of her books.

Imaginary Friend by Stephen Chbosky

This is technically an ARC that I should read this month because I have it on Netgalley but I just know that I’m not going to like it so I’m not going to force myself through it. If I feel like reading it at any point this month, then I shall but I’m not going to make myself read it.

Tunnel of Bones by V.E. Schwab

This is a September release that I’m really anticipating but I want to wait until the audiobook becomes available on Scribd. If it comes on Scribd this month, then I’ll listen to it but if not I will wait. I loved the first book in audio format, so I would like to finish the series in that format.

That’s my September TBR. What books are you guys dying to read this month? Let me know down below.
