I need to get back into reading. I was doing so well this year but I failed miserably in June and July. So one of the ways that I am motivating myself to get back into reading again is by setting myself a TBR and sharing it with the world so that I can be held accountable. This may seem bizarre to some of you but having a set TBR really helps me read more because I spend a lot of time debating what to read. This may be an ambitious TBR but we shall see.
Crossfire by Malorie Blackman
I actually already own this book even though it comes out on August 8th but that is just because they had exclusive early copies available at YALC. I am so excited to dive back into the Noughts and Crosses world and find out what happens next. Malorie Blackman is one of my favourite authors of all time so I am so excited whenever she publishes a new book.
The Right Swipe by Alisha Rai
This is an adult romance novel that I have heard people raving about constantly so I cannot wait to pick it up as soon as it is released and find out exactly how good it is.
The Shortest Distance Between Love and Hate by Sandy Hall
Sandy Hall is one of my favourite YA romance authors so I’m always excited when she has a new release coming out. I had the release date down as the 27th August in my bullet journal but it seems she has changed the date as it is actually already out!
American Royals by Katherine McGee
I was on top of all of my 2019 ARCs until it got to YALC where I got so many that I needed to organise them! I’ve now decided to attempt to read all ARCs the month before release date at least. So in August, I am reading my September ARCs. The first is American Royals which I am so excited about. I have heard amazing things and I cannot wait to dive in.
Frankly In Love by David Yoon
The next is a YA romance that I know I am going to love and that is Frankly in Love. It sounds super adorable and exactly like my kinda book so I can’t wait to read and review it.
Mooncakes by Suzanne Walker
This is an October ARC technically but as I have 4 big ARCs for October, I thought I would at least move one of them into this month’s TBR pile. I have a Netgalley copy of this and it’s a graphic novel so I should fly through it.
TBR Jar Pick:
A Thousand Perfect Notes by C.G. Drews
I have also decided this month to finally use my TBR Jar in order to get my physical TBR down because it is becoming way too big for me to handle. I decided to pick three out of the jar and then out of those three, pick one that I will definitely read this month. The three that were picked were Only Ever Yours by Louise O’Neill, The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton and A Thousand Perfect Notes by C.G. Drews. It’s obvious which one I’ve picked. Only Ever Yours is meant to be a really tough read and I am on the verge of unhauling Ava Lavender as I do not enjoy magical realism so I ended up picking the easiest of the three to read so hopefully I can get it read this month.
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
I am making it a mission to re-read at least one book a month and I thought it would be perfect to re-read Carry On this month as the sequel Wayward Son comes out in September and I need to make myself mentally and emotionally prepared. I haven’t read Carry On since it released in 2015 so I’m nervous but I’m sure that I’m still going to love it.
So that’s my August TBR. It isn’t incredibly ambitious as most of them are all contemporaries which I fly through anyway. I think I will end up reading all of these quite quickly and I will hopefuly be able to pick up some more, maybe some of my October ARCs as I have 4 more of those, two of which are intimidatingly huge. What’s on your August TBR? Let me know down below.
