There are so many backlist books that I haven’t read but they always end up getting prioritised a lot less compared to newer releases. Today, I’m going to be telling you about the books on my TBR that were published over 2 years ago.
The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan
As I’ve said many times, I love Rick Riordan but there are quite a lot of his books that I haven’t read. I’ve owned the American boxset for almost 4 years but I still have never even reached for them and I don’t know why.
Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
This is such a well loved series that I’m sort of scared that I’ll read it and not like it. I don’t want to be in the small minority of people who hate this series. I’m also way more interested in Six of Crows but I’m determined to read this series first.
Obsidian by Jennifer L Armentrout
I’m not sure if I I will like this series. It’s like Twilight for Aliens but I’m determined to at least attempt the first book since I do like her writing.
The Young Elites by Marie Lu
I’m so mad that I haven’t read this series. I love Marie Lu as an author, she’s one of my ultimate favourite auto buy authors but somehow, I completely ignored these book releases. I definitely need to read them soon, since I own the whole trilogy.
Vicious by VE Schwab
Victoria Schwab is an author that is incredibly hyped up but I have not yet jumped on the bandwagon. Actually, I did read A Darker Shade of Magic but it took me over a month and I found it quite boring so I never carried on with the series. I feel like Vicious is more up my alley so I think I’ll give Vicious a try.
Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson
I enjoyed Morgan Matson’s latest release, Save the Date, but I’m still most intrigued by Second Chance Summer. Everyone does say it’s quite sad though so that’s probably why I’ve stayed away from it.
Only Ever Yours by Louise O’Neill
This is another well loved book that I’ve stayed away from because everyone says it is a very difficult read and that doesn’t sound to me. I read for pleasure, not to feel uncomfortable. However, I feel like I need to read it.
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
This is another sad book that I’ve stayed away from (can you see a growing theme?). Historical fiction is not really my thing but I feel like this is a book that everyone needs to read in their life so I will read it at some point.
And The Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini
Yet another sad book that I’ve avoided. I loved A Thousand Splendid Suns when I read it 3 years ago and I really want to try his other books but ATSS was such an emotional journey that I’m never mentally prepared to experience a similar feeling again.
Seed by Lisa Heathfield
I really don’t know why I haven’t read this. It interests me and I’ve owned it for years but just never got to it.
So those are some of the backlist books that I want to read. Any that you’ve read? Let me know down below.
You should read Shadow and Bone now, the publishers are hosting a month long readalong 🙂
