This week’s topic was a creepy Halloween topic but as I avoid anything even remotely creepy, I didn’t have much to talk about. So therefore, I looked through the list of past topics, I saw this topic and it really intrigued me. This year, I’ve got really into re-reading but I think it’s interesting to think about which books I probably will never re-read. These are going to be books that I liked but I just don’t see myself re-reading them for whatever reason.
Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell
This was my first ever Rainbow Rowell book and I loved it so much when I read it for the first time 5 years ago. However, I reread it last year and I noticed a lot of the glaring problems that people have pointed out since then and I’m scared that if I ever re-read it again, I’ll end up hating it. So atm, I love it but for purely nostalgic reasons.
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
This is series that I also love for just nostalgic reasons. I’m not a massive fan of the actual book series but this world and the subsequent series mean so much to me that I also love this series by default. I feel like if I reread this series, I’ll hate it.
PS I Still Love You by Jenny Han
I recently re-read the first book in the series (after falling in love with the movie) and I loved it so much however, I didn’t want to re-read the rest of the series because I know that I didn’t like the sequels as much. I’m tempted to maybe re-read this if Netflix announce that they are making the sequel but until then, nope.
Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover
I jumped on the Colleen Hoover trend back when everyone loved her books and I really liked Ugly Love and Maybe Someday. However since then, people have really pointed out the flaws in this book and I think I’m too scared to re-read it and spot all the flaws.
Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi
I loved this book so much but the reason that I probably will never re-read it is because of the size. I don’t have the time and energy to re-read many 500 page books unless they are Harry Potter or Shadowhunters related.
Simon Vs The Homosapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
This is another book that I love but I’m scared to re-read it because I love the movie so much. It’s possible that I may love the movie even more than the book.
The Loneliest Girl In The Universe by Lauren James
I would actually like to re-read this but I feel like I won’t enjoy it as much a second time. The main reason why this book is so good is because of how much it shocks and surprises you so I don’t think it would have the same effect a second time around.
All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
This is another book that I loved when I first read it but since then, people have pointed out the flaws in it and I feel like if I re-read it, I won’t like it.
A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
This book is too emotional to re-read. I also studied it for a year in school so I don’t think I will ever want to re-read it. Maybe years in the future.
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
This is a series that I loved but I think if I re-read it, I won’t like it because I have sort of outgrown this type of YA book.
So that’s my list. Any that you agree with? Let me know down below.
You know what, same with Eleanor & Park – I most likely won’t reread it either.
