Ah Villains. Who doesn’t love a good villain? They can really make or break a story. I must admit that I don’t go as crazy for villains as most of the community seems to but I still have my favourite villains obviously. Today, I’m going to be letting you know who my favourite villains are.
Aidan – Illuminae trilogy by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
I mean, who doesn’t love a good villainous Artificial Intelligence? Aidan does change a lot over the course of the series but so many of his actions are just so creepy and weird.
The Queen – The Sin Eater’s Daughter by Melinda Salisbury
It’s been 3 years since I read this and I still remember how awful the Queen was in the first book. She did so many horrible and questionable things that I had never really seen in YA before. I really do need to reread this whole series though.
The Sleeping Prince – The Sleeping Prince by Melinda Salisbury
You know this series is good when two villains from it appear on this list. The Sleeping Prince is the main villain in the series and he was just creepy enough to be a scary villain.
The Magister – The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare
How could I not include him? The things he does to my favourite characters are unacceptable sometimes. He was mainly creepy because he had no powers. His position as the villain was all based on control and intelligence which makes it even scarier.
Voldemort – Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
What list is complete without Voldemort? Classic creepy villain.
Annabel – The Dark Artifices by Cassandra Clare
The Dark Artifices series has an interesting villain story that I can’t really delve into because of spoilers but you should honestly just read it to understand.
Zero – Warcross by Marie Lu
The Warcross duology also has an interesting villain story but I don’t want to spoil the ending of Warcross for everyone by talking about it. This series really messes with your perception of villains and I love it.
The King – Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi
Who doesn’t love a good classic YA fantasy king who is against change and magic? This sort of king is the classic YA villain and I still love it every time it comes up.
The Komizar – The Remnant Chronicles by Mary E Pearson
He was again another creepy, entitled villain that scared the life out of everyone in the series.
The Loneliest Girl In The Universe by Lauren James
I don’t want to name the villain in this book because of spoilers but if you haven’t read this book yet, read it! It’s so fantastic and it messes with your mind.
So those are some of my favourite villains? Any that you love on this list? Let me know down below.
Excellent list! Completely agree with Sin Eater and Sleeping Prince. Melinda Salisbury is excellent at creating great villains.
