September 2017

This month’s wrap up is going to very short and sweet sadly. I did a lot this month but didn’t read or watch a lot so not much to blog about. I started university this month which is just crazy and I still can’t believe that I’m here! It has felt very surreal so I have been busy this month settling in and socialising with new people and exploring my new city so sorry for the short post but I did manage to do some things.

33786522The first book I finished reading this month was Indigo Donut by Patrice Lawrence which tells the story of Indigo, who is part of the foster care system and everyone knows about the tragic things that happened in her past. The book tells the story of her relationship with Bailey, another kid from her school. I really enjoyed this book but I have a full review that I’ve written so I won’t go into the details here. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.

32601841After that, I read the highly anticipated The Lonelist Girl In The Universe by Lauren James which is the story of Romy, the only girl aboard a spaceship to another planet until another faster ship starts catching up with her with J on it, who she begins to communicate with through emails. THIS BOOK. It was a god damn rollercoaster. So many different emotions and feelings. Believe me, this is more than what the description says. It has been very hyped up and I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it or not due to the fact that most of the book is just Romy with little to no dialogue throughout the whole thing which is not really something that appeals to me but it was so good and Romy was an excellent protagonist to follow. If you haven’t already read it, pick it up now. I obviously gave it 5 out of 5 stars.

As you can expect, I didn’t have time to post much this month so sadly I’ve only uploaded one but I’m hoping to get back into it soon when I settle into uni properly.

I received a review copy of Warcross by Marie Lu this month which is a very beautiful and hyped book that I can’t wait to get around to.

I don’t think I actually bought any this month and I’m proud of myself!

JTYJNFirst up this month, I watch Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (Whether You Know It Or Not) which is a Bollywood rom-com following your typical best friends falling in love trope. It was a cute film but I think my expectations were too high as everyone convinced me that it was one of the best Bollywood rom-coms. I loved watching Imran Khan act as I definitely think he is an underrated actor but most of the other actors annoyed me especially Genelia D’Souza, who played the main girl. I also didn’t like the random gust appearances by Sohail and Arbaaz Khan who aren’t very good actors so it was just weird. It was still a fun film but not one I’d watch again and again so I gave it 3 out of 5 stars.

JoshAfter that I decided to watch Josh which is inspired by Romeo and Juliet with more of a focus on the Tybalt character, who is played SRK. I wanted to watch it because I haven’t watched an early 00s SRK film in ages and those films are always my favourite. I found it to be really fun to watch so I really enjoyed it. Aishwarya’s acting wasn’t great and it did have a lot of early 00s Bollywood tropes including terrible fight scenes but it was still good so I gave it 3.5 out of 5 stars

The only show I watched this month was season 3 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt which was funny but not great. I can’t wait for Crazy Ex Girlfriend to come back on October 13th to be honest because it’s the only show I really love.

Favourites of the Month:

The Loneliest Girl In The Universe by Lauren James for sure.

TV show:

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt by default.

Is it weird if I pick the Bollywood Diva song by AIB? I’m also loving Oonchi Hai Building 2.0 recently as well.

Thing that Happened:

I moved to uni! I’m so proud of myself!

That’s it for September. It was a pretty busy month with a lot of different things happening which I’m honestly not used to but I love it. Hopefully, I’ll read and watch more in October…
