Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
I have a summer that is basically completely free so I have a very long list of books that I hope to read this summer. I therefore decided to just randomly pick ten off of my TBR. This list comprises of books that I already own only. If you want to know more about each book, click on the title.
The first book that I’ve picked is Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. I bought this book when it first came out and started it straight away. However, at this point all the negative reviews of the book started to come in and that scared me off reading it because so many bloggers and booktubers that I trusted were saying that it was terrible. However now more people have spoken out positively about it and I just want to read the whole book and make my own opinion on it rather than judging it based on its reviews.
The next book that I picked to read this summer is Running Girl by Simon Mason. I had never heard of this book before I got sent it for review however it sounds quite interesting and I really want to dive into it and hopefully I’ll enjoy it. It is a teenage detective novel which is something I’ve never read before so I can’t wait to find out what I think about it.
The third book that I’ll hopefully be reading is The Iron Trial by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare. I have yet to read any of Holly Black’s work but this is the only Cassandra Clare book that I have not yet read so obviously I need to read it. Cassandra Clare is one of my favourite authors and this book has been getting a lot of hype around it so I’m excited to dive in.
Next, I picked The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater because it’s absolutely ridiculous how I have yet to finish this book. I started reading this about two years ago when it first came out and I still have yet to finish it. I have put the book down and picked it back up again so many times but this summer I shall hopefully finally finish it. Everyone loves this series and says that it’s amazing so I want to get into it. I hope that once I get past the first 100 pages, I will love it.
I also want to read The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan simply because I loved the Percy Jackson series and the Heroes of Olympus series. Rick Riordan’s writing is amazing so it’s crazy that I’ve yet to read this trilogy. I got the American hardcover boxset for my birthday back in January so I don’t know why I haven’t picked it up yet.
Next I decided that I want to read Night School by CJ Daugherty. This is a very big UKYA book series that I have yet to delve in and I’m ashamed of this fact! It sounds like it will be a lot of fun and I own the first three books so obviously I need to read them.
Another big UKYA read that I want to pick up is Vendetta by Catherine Doyle. This book came out in January and it has been getting a lot of buzz. The one reason I’ve been putting it off is because it is a Romeo and Juliet retelling and I despise anything and everything to do with Romeo and Juliet. However, I’ve decided to throw caution to the wind and finally pick it up because I need to get over this hatred.
I also want to read I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson because I started reading this book back in May but exams got in the way and I put it down and then never picked it back up again. I was actually quite enjoying it and I loved The Sky is Everywhere by the same author so I really want to pick it up again.
The next book is also a very hyped up book and that is A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab. I have yet to read any of her books but this one just sounds amazing and I have yet to hear from anyone who hated it. I think it sounds amazing and the cover is beautiful so I can’t wait to dive in.
The final book I’ve picked is Seed by Lisa Heathfield. A number of my friends have read and loved this book so clearly I need to get to reading it. It sounds really interesting and completely different from anything I’ve ever read before so I think it’s going to be a great read.
So those are 10 books that I hope to read this summer. Which books are on the top of your summer TBR? Let me know down in the comments.
Although Red Queen isn’t on my Top Ten Tuesday list it is on my overall summer TBR. I bought it for my birthday in March I usually wait for the hype to die down, but I am excited to read it! Here is my Top Ten Tuesday if you’re curious to see what I picked =D https://cksreadingcorner.wordpress.com/2015/06/16/top-ten-tuesday-the-books-that-will-take-me-traveling-this-summer/

I’m glad you’re giving Red Queen a go! I think it deserves to be read because you never know what you’ll think of it! I didn’t think it was perfect but I definitely enjoyed it. It was similar to some other fantasy/dystopian novels but that was only initially and was not constantly rotating throughout the novel. It has potential!
And I am so excited to hear you’re going to pick up The Iron Trial! This book was so good in my opinion. It’s got that classic Cassandra Clare style with a hint of mysteriousness and darkness that I’m sure is Holly’s gift to this book. It will have you guessing and wondering the entire time – well at least, that was my experience! xoxo
